The Map, Book and Slideshow modules will be covered in less detail. Some links to more information about using them are provided below. Not much has changed in these modules over the versions of LrC so some of the references are older.
The Map module can be used to organise photos based on location. Many cameras now have ways to add geographic coordinates to photos which can be used by LrC to access google maps and populate the sublocation, city, state and country metadata in your photos. Note that not every location has all four parameters and accuracy is dependent on google maps. You can of course over right what is populated in the metadata.
Some of the features of the map module include:
View Photos on a Map: It allows you to see where your photos were taken on a Google map using GPS coordinates embedded in your photos' metadata.
Add GPS Coordinates: If your camera doesn't record GPS coordinates, you can manually add them in the Map module or import a track log from a GPS device.
Navigate the Map: You can zoom in and out, drag the map to reposition it, and search for specific locations.
Map Styles: You can choose different map styles such as Satellite, Road Map, Hybrid, Terrain, Light, or Dark.
Create Collections: You can create collections from a group of photos at the same location on the map.
The Book Module can be used to create hardcover or softcover books published by Blurb instead of accessing their website. You don't need to export jpgs or tiff files as the module just references your files within LrC. You can add text to pages as well. Blurb's cost for producing the book is also shown in the module.
You can also save the created book as pdf or jpg file that you can distribute. A handy way to share photos rather than through social media. I produced the pdf that is accessible for download from the button on the "summer vibes 2024-25" page using LrC's book module.
Some of the features of the book module are:
Design Photographic Books: You can design and layout photo books, which can be printed through Blurb or saved as PDF or JPEG files.
Book Settings: Choose the book size, cover type (hardcover or softcover), and paper type. You can also specify the output format (Blurb Photo Book, Blurb Magazine, Blurb Trade Book, PDF, or JPEG).
Auto Layout: Automate the layout of your book using presets. You can also manually arrange photos and text on each page.
Text Options: Add titles, captions, and other text to your book. You can fill text boxes with metadata such as the photo's title, caption, or file name.
Guides and Grids: Use guides and grids to align photos and text accurately. You can toggle various guide options to help with the layout.
The Slideshow module can be used to create slideshows with custom transitions, music and text overlays. However, it is not as flexible as dedicated 3rd party software for creating slideshows or audio visuals. The slideshow can be exported as a video or a pdf.
The Web Module allows you to create web pages for uploading to a web site. However, most people are better served by the Adobe Portfolio feature included in the plan you have chosen and accessible via the creative cloud app through a standard web browser interface (Chrome, Safari, Edge, whatever you use to browse the web)
